Valerie Gordon is a celebrated chocolatier, chef, and entrepreneur whose creative vision has transformed Valerie Confections into one of the most respected and beloved confectionery brands in the country. Co-founded in 2004 with her husband and business partner Stan Weightman Jr., Valerie Confections began with a single product: chocolate-dipped toffee. Today, the brand offers a refined selection of chocolates, truffles, petits fours, baked goods, and operates a cherished neighborhood café, Valerie Echo Park.
For nearly two decades, Valerie’s work has extended far beyond the culinary realm, connecting with the worlds of design, fashion, wellness, and luxury. Known for her charm, wit, and infectious energy, Valerie is one of Los Angeles' most influential food personalities, trusted tastemakers, and a recognized leader in the artisanal food community.
In 2009, Valerie’s passion for historic California desserts led her to recreate the iconic Blum’s Coffee Crunch Cake, which has since become a staple dessert in Los Angeles and is available for nationwide shipping through Goldbelly. Her culinary creativity further shines through her cookbook, Sweet, a James Beard Award finalist, which showcases her expertise and innovative approach to classic desserts.
Not one to be confined to traditional roles, Valerie’s enthusiasm for barbecue has driven her to develop unique dessert recipes cooked over open flames. She now enjoys serving as the curator and MC for the BBQ Bootcamp at the prestigious Alisal Ranch in the Santa Ynez Valley.
Valerie’s remarkable journey has earned her features in top-tier media outlets such as the New York Times, Vogue, T Magazine, House & Garden, Los Angeles Times, and Food & Wine. A seasoned television host and judge, Valerie has appeared on numerous Netflix and Food Network programs, as well as local and national cooking segments.
A proud member of the AAPI community and a passionate advocate for women entrepreneurs, Valerie uses her platform to support small businesses and AAPI causes across Los Angeles and beyond. Her active involvement in charitable initiatives reflects her commitment to giving back to the community.
In 2022, Valerie and Stan moved the company to a state-of-the-art 5,000 square-foot facility in Glendale, where Valerie continues to host public and corporate events, teach hands-on cooking and baking classes, and expand Valerie Confections as a luxury brand that combines creativity, quality, and elegance.
